First Commonwealth Bank’s Tammie Downey Recognized by State Payroll Organization

INDIANA, PA (December 8, 2025) — Tammie Downey, First Commonwealth Bank’s Assistant Payroll Manager, was named the 2025 Pennsylvania Payroll Person of the Year by the selection committee of the hosting local chapter of PayrollOrg, formerly known as American Payroll Association.

Downey received the award recently at the organization’s Annual State Payroll Conference.

“This award is a reflection of the tremendous work Tammie does to support all our employees with their payroll inquiries and her continued work to inspire excellence across the industry,” said Natalie Felix, First Commonwealth’s Benefits and Payroll Manager.

“I am extremely proud to accept this award,” Downey said. “Holding different officer positions over the years in the APA and just being involved has really been a great opportunity and a learning experience.

The award is based on five criteria: Career (Certified Payroll Professional/CPP, length of experience, low turnover & size of payroll); Mentoring (Staff s ize, colleague nomination); National (Involvement in PayrollOrg, attending conferences/classes); Local (Involvement, volunteering, active member); and other (non-payroll related factors, i.e. activities outside of work).

Downey, who joined First Commonwealth Bank in 1999, is a member of the Western PA Chapter of Payroll Professionals (WPACPP), one of three Pennsylvania chapters of PayrollOrg. She has held various positions for the WPACPP and currently serves as vice president. Downey earned a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification from the organization in 2007.

Downey and her husband, Jeff, live in Home, PA. They have three adult children and three grandchildren.
